Spanish residence supports travel across the Schengen area without internal border checks.
Eligible employees and founders can apply for the Beckham regime. The residence route alone never grants the rate.
Choose the evidence before the lifestyle. The clean route is the one your real work, venture or income can prove.
Choose by how you earn
Start with the source of work or money. It usually removes the wrong routes before any document is ordered.
Digital Nomad is the first route to test, with about €2,849 a month and a real remote-work history.
See Digital NomadStartup is the founder route. ENISA reviews the project before the residence decision.
See StartupNon-Lucrative is the route to test. It does not permit remote work or any other professional activity.
See Non-LucrativeWe test eligibility and the filing deadline separately from the visa. The tax regime is an application, never an automatic benefit.
Check Beckham eligibilityFor a move funded by savings or passive income, the Non-Lucrative Visa is the strongest route to Spain, and one of our core specialties.
What the route can unlock
Work rights, tax treatment and permit length depend on the route. These are the shared outcomes worth planning around.
The main routes support spouse or partner and children, with the family amount calculated before filing.
Continuous legal residence counts when day limits and renewal conditions remain satisfied.
Travel across 29 Schengen countries while Spain remains the residence base.
Remote work fits Digital Nomad, the approved venture fits Startup, and Non-Lucrative permits no professional activity.
We compare the route, the filing channel and the tax application before the first certificate is ordered.

Spain questions
The seven questions carried from the live country page, with the route boundaries made explicit.
Yes, when the company is established outside Spain, the work is genuinely remote and no more than 20% of a professional applicant's activity comes from Spanish clients.
Continuous presence is not required for the permit itself. To stay on track for long-term residence after five years, the absence limits still have to be met.
The project needs innovation, economic value and credible potential in Spain. ENISA assesses the business plan, founder role, scalability and financing rather than applying a fixed turnover or headcount test.
Spending more than 183 days in Spain usually makes you tax resident. Employees may be able to apply for the Beckham regime, which uses a 24% rate on qualifying Spanish income for the arrival year plus five tax years. Eligibility is separate from the visa.
Yes, when the income is stable, the professional history is documented and no more than 20% of activity comes from Spanish clients.
Not on the Digital Nomad or Startup route. Temporary accommodation can support the initial move. The Non-Lucrative consular file has its own accommodation evidence, so we check the route before you book.
The initial permit is built on the approved venture. If the venture changes or ends, review the modification route before taking action. Time already held can still count toward the long-term residence clock when legal residence remains continuous.
